What it is

Access that works around the building, not against it

Rope access puts trained technicians exactly where the work is, using anchor points and ropes rather than scaffold, cradles or powered access.

It is low impact on the fabric of the building, which matters on listed and heritage structures, and low impact on its use, so offices, stations and churches stay open while we work. Set-up takes hours rather than weeks, and there is nothing left standing at the end of the day for anyone to climb or damage.

Where rope access is not the right answer, we will say so. Some jobs are better suited to a MEWP, a cradle or confined space entry, and we hold the qualifications for those too.

How we work

Faster. Safer. Simpler.

Faster

Quick to mobilise

Specialist teams and minimal set-up mean work starts sooner and fits into a tighter programme, with less time spent on site.

Safer

Talk to the rope access team

Tell us about the structure and the problem and we will tell you how we would reach it.

Common questions

Before you enquire

Anything else you'd like to know? Our team is happy to talk it through.

Is rope access cheaper than scaffolding?

In most cases, yes. With no scaffold hire, erection or dismantling, and a shorter time on site, the overall cost is usually lower, particularly on tall or awkward structures.

Can you work on an occupied building?

Yes. Most of our work is on buildings that stay open. Access is planned around occupants and the public, and work can be scheduled outside normal hours where needed.

What qualifications do your technicians hold?

Vertex holds Constructionline Gold, CHAS, SafeContractor and RISQS accreditation, and is a member of CIRAS, the Forest Industry Safety Accord and the Federation of Master Builders. Drone surveys are carried out in line with UK Civil Aviation Authority regulations.

How quickly can you get to site?

It depends on location, access and current programmes. Send the site postcode and how urgent it is and we will be straight with you about timescales.

What if rope access isn't suitable?

We will tell you. Some structures are better reached by MEWP, cradle or scaffold, and we will recommend the method that suits the job rather than the one we would prefer to sell.
